James didn’t start with a company. He started with a truck, a set of tools, and a work ethic he has carried without compromise every single day since.
He began as a handyman in California — the kind of person neighbors called when something needed fixing and needed fixing right. From there, he followed the work to Minnesota, where he joined the subcontracting networks of large-scale commercial contractors and property developers. Over the years, he worked across more than nine states — Minnesota, Colorado, Virginia, New Jersey, Delaware, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Massachusetts, and more — installing roofs, siding, gutters, and painting exteriors across residential and commercial projects of all scales.
He wasn’t running the business from an office. He was on the roof.
That’s where the real education happens — in understanding how materials behave in different climates, how systems perform over decades, and how to give a homeowner an honest assessment of what their property actually needs. After years of building that knowledge from the inside of the industry, he settled in New Jersey and built something of his own.

Today, Eleven Exterior is run by a father and son — together — with offices in Highland Park, NJ and Macungie, PA.
The father brings what years in the field build and nothing else can replace. Decades of hands-on experience across nine states. An eye trained by thousands of roofs, walls, and drainage systems across residential and commercial projects of every scale. He still personally supervises the jobs where it counts most. He still gets on the roof. The care he brought to the very first project he ever worked on is the same care he brings today.
His son brings the modern fluency — in documentation, technology, and regulation. Roofing has always been skilled work, but certifications that didn’t exist a generation ago now determine the quality of your inspection, the strength of your insurance claim, and the warranty coverage on your roof. He made it his responsibility to earn them.
